About

Mr Shahram Kashani is a UK trained Ophthalmologist having graduated from St George’s Hospital Medical School, London in 1998. He is currently the lead for the retina services at East Sussex NHS Healthcare Trust (ESHT) and is the registered manager and lead for South East Eye Surgeons (SEES) consortium. He has held a substantive consultant position since 2011 at ESHT.
 

His specialist interest includes high volume and complex cataract surgery with premium lens implant and management of challenging retinal disorders such as age related macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, retinal vascular disorders and ocular inflammation.
 

Mr Kashani has had the privilege of training at various prestigious teaching hospitals in London including Kings College Hospital, Charing Cross Hospital, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, Western Eye Hospital and has spent several years at the world-renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital. It was at Moorfields Eye Hospital that he was competitively selected for the prestigious advanced sub speciality fellowship in medical retina and Uveitis. His clinical practice also includes management of patients with general ophthalmic pathology such as cataracts, dry eyes and glaucoma.
 

He is keen on research with over 40 publications and numerous presentations at national and international level. He attends meetings regularly to keep up to date with latest technological advances in ophthalmology. He also holds a Master’s degree in Management and Leadership in Healthcare.
